Run torrent behind Proxy - College Tricks

1. Download utorrent. Install it on your desktop and open it.
2. Also download Tor Browser from the link provided and extract it.
2. In utorrent go to Options and then Preferences. (Ctrl+P)
3. Click on Connections and perform the following steps- 
  • Change the Proxy Server Type field to Socks5
  • Proxy address to 127.0.0.1 and Port number to 9050
  • Tick the fields - Using proxy for host-name look-ups and Use proxy for peer-to-peer connections.
4. Now open the Tor Browser folder extracted in step 2 and click on Start Tor Browser to open the Vidalia Control Panel. Now perform the following steps-
  • Click the Settings button.
  • Now click Network on the toolbar.
  • Check the first check-box and enter your HTTP Proxy and Port. Also enter your authentication details if applicable for your proxy.
  • Set the type to HTTP/HTTPS and click OK.
5. Now click on Start Tor and wait for it to connect (this may take time for the 1st time)
6. After successfull connection a browser will open (looking like Firefox) which will have a message saying-

Congratulations. Your browser is configured to use Tor.

This indicates SUCCESS and you can now successfully download torrents.

Note
  • Please do not close the Tor Browser once opened. You can Hide the Vidalia Control Panel if you want.
  • Also Uninstall Torch Browser if you want this to work.
  • Also disable your Windows Firewall/Anti-Virus before downloading torrents, once the download starts you can re-enable them.
